Steal Like An Artist
This post is now a New York Times best-selling book.
Here’s what a few folks have said about it:
- “Brilliant and real and true.”
—Rosanne Cash - “Filled with well-formed advice that applies to nearly any kind of work.”
—Lifehacker.com - “Immersing yourself in Steal Like An Artist is as fine an investment in the life of your mind as you can hope to make.”
—The Atlantic

CHALK MUGS
Meg bought me a mug at World Market that has a speech balloon chalkboard on it, so every work day I draw or write something on it and post it on Twitter.
Looking at a blank page of paper is pretty scary, but if you’ve got this repeatable project set out, you know what you’re supposed to do.

SXSW HOROSCOPES
If we should happen to bump into each other this year at SXSW, I’ll hand you your horoscope on a sticker:
Here’s where you can find me:
- I’m moderating a panel on Tuesday @ 12:30 p.m. called Your Caption Here: How To Manipulate Images Without Photoshop. It’s really just an excuse to hang out and chat with some of my favorite artists and bloggers: Drew Dernavich, Jessica Hagy, Maris Kreizman, and Ross Nover.
- I have a little mini-display of artwork in The Beacon Lounge on the 3rd floor of the convention center, Room 8B/C, where some of my work will be in a silent auction. (Proceeds go to charity.)
- I’m judging the Animated Shorts for SXSW Film. The screening is at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, and I’ll also be at the film awards Tuesday night at 9.
- I’ll be at the Springbox party Friday night at 8
Following me on Twitter is the best way to see what I’m up to during the fest: @austinkleon
