We made it. 1400 miles. The Honda took the trip like a champ. Our life was crammed in the trunk and a rented mini-van. Our apartment is great, but empty. The neighborhood is great. The city is great. Tacos and lemonade for dinner. It’s hot and beautiful. The air conditioning is on. I’m trying to put together an Ikea chair without instructions. Boxes are everywhere. I have a job interview at ten in the morning. Life is good.

Welcome! Call me when you’re ready to start learning Austin’s better bars . . .
Mark says
Congrats. The best is yet to come, I’m sure.
Austin Kleon says
Thanks, Mark!
Tim, we’ll get the parents out of town and get down to business.

Welcome to the Bluest City in the Reddest State. We NEVER liked Bush here.
I don’t get out much (muy disabled) but I once did and can make great recommends, if you like. Here’s one: Best barbecue in the state is in Lockhart at Smitty, usta be Kreuz’s but after a family feud one sib got the name and the other got the recipe plus the original ovens. Go with the recipe and ovens. My kosher Jewish vegetarian friends from the West Coast have spontaneously ordered the pork chops and sausage there, and eaten it with expressions of ecstasy on their face. No sides, just meat and your choice of either crackers or white bread, dumped on butcher paper (no plates, no utensils) and eaten at communal tables. You’ll see g*d.
I, too, moved back to Austin in 1989 during August, from San Francisco. My girlfriend and I were always buying Big Gulps, and after three days she commented she was drinking gallons each day but almost ever needing to pee. We didn’t have air conditioning yet, and it was all coming out her pores.

wow! i want in on that meat…
