And…we’re back. The trip to Austin: hot, exhilarating, and exhausting. We found a place. We made some really great friends. We ate. We saw. We drove hundreds of miles across town.
I’d write more about our trip, but all the running in and out of 90-degree weather and chilly air-conditioning has given me a headcold the size of Texas.
I want to thank all of our new friends who were wonderful and warm and hospitable beyond belief: especially Tim Walker and his beautiful family, Jon Lebkowsky and his wife Marsha, Megan, who was kind enough to run around with us and let us stay in her extra room, and Stephanie and Adam, who fed us several times.

congrats on snagging a place to live and more importantly finding folks who may constitute the base of your new ‘extended family’ – most often the latter is more important — after all one can always hang out with the bats under the congress avenue bridge (well, maybe that isn’t a very good idea!). I haven’t heard from any of my austin-based ‘fictive kin’ responding to the email I sent out re austin in austin – so I’m thinking they didn’t know of anything but maybe you are on their radar should anything arise that might be appropriate I trust them that they’d follow-up – although it does appear you have successfully plugged into the set of folks who will be excellent human connectors! one thing about texans (even if they come from someplace else) they do have the hospitality thing down!

thanks kim — you’re definitely right: texans (at least Austinites) have the hospitality thing down for sure
